ceramics and creative mindfulness
I am an artist living in London who works across various media. I am also a Breathworks trained mindfulness teacher.
My current work is a series of bottles with glazes moving from dry and arid, reflecting desert landscapes, to lustrous with blues and greens suggesting a more lush and fertile environment. This work emerged from a period of bereavement where I found myself unable to paint or work with more sculptural, abstract pieces. The simple action of hand coiling is both meditative and reassuring.
The bottle, with its potential to hold life giving water, came to represent the possibility of relief from an endless desert of grief. The glazes suggested themselves to me naturally rather than as a planned progression and the surface of the bottle became a canvas reflecting something of my inner psychological landscape.
